In March we are...

-Writing: We are continuing to write stories using our sounds to help us write sentences! We know that writers start with an idea and go back to add more details to make a story.

Each day we are growing more independent with writing. Can your kindergartner write a sentence and begin to add more to make a story? Writing daily is a great way to build independent writing skills!

We are also using our sight words to make sentences starting with I can... We can... I like... We like... I see.... We see... I can go.... We can go....

-Reading:

We are learning new sight words and letters each week!

We know the sight words: I, a, can, we, the, like, see, go, to, have, is, play, are, for, you, this, do, and, what, little, said.

We are also focusing on the letters: Mm, Aa, Ss, Pp, Tt, Ii, Nn, Cc, Oo, Ff, Hh, Dd, Rr, Ee, Bb, Ll, Kk.

At home you can find these sight words in print all around you! You can also practice writing the letters, reviewing the sounds and thinking of words beginning with these letters!

Reading Books: Students will bring home a reader Monday-Thursday nights. Please read this book with your child and return it in their red folder the following day. The book should be easily read by your child. Any questions? Please email or call. Happy Reading:)

-Sounds in words:

We are now focusing on listening to the middle and ending sounds in words. We are isolating this sound and matching it to other words with the same middle or ending sounds.

We have already learned about rhyming, clapping out syllables and isolating the beginning sounds in words. We are experts in these areas!

-Math:

We began our unit on geometric shapes. We are learning about 2D and 3D shapes and finding them all around us. We are also counting objects past 20 and writing numbers to 20. At home you can write numbers focusing on the correct formation, count objects beyond 20, and look for shapes all around you!
