Welcome!
This site provides information about what mathematics is taught at third, fourth, and fifth grades at Bolivar Road Elementary School. It also provides strategies for helping your child be successful in mathematics. There are links to good websites for practice, sample New York State Mathematics Assessments, and the New York State Learning Standards for Mathematics, as well as links for ideas for parents. If your child needs help learning mathematics, please take time to check these sites out.
Children who know their addition and related subtraction facts as well as their multiplication and related division facts (for fourth and fifth grade students) are more successful in mathematics than their peers who have difficulty with their facts. Please check out the link for helping children learn facts for ideas on how you can help your child!

Mathematics at Bolivar!
The math program at Chittenango Elementary Schools uses the research- and standards-based mathematics program from Scott-Foresman Publishing: TERC: Investigations in Number, Data, and Space. This is a program designed to develop an understanding of mathematics by focusing on number sense, patterns, and mathematical connections. Our students learn a variety of computational strategies and skills, but more importantly, develop an understanding of mathematical concepts and relationships.
