Notes from your teacher . . .

Did you know that our school motto is "85 or higher"?  This is an achievable goal for all students.  If you have not earned the school-wide goal of 85 or higher, it is most likely due to one or more of the following factors:

  1. Bullet  Many absences (due to illness or music lessons) and a lot of missed work hasn't been completed yet

  2. Bullet  Homework isn't finished and/or turned in

  3. Bullet  Failure to study = low test scores (Have corrections been made?)

  4. Bullet  Unsure of assignments and have not sought help

  5. Bullet  Failure to stay 10th period for any of the above

I have Student Council meetings on Wednesdays during 10th period.  However, you may usually sign up with Mrs. Korosec or Mrs. Hagan on one of those days.

Parents...

If your child's grades are lower than you expect or would like,  please check his or her agenda first.  If you find that your child is not writing down assignments, that is a first step towards turning things around for the better.  As always, please don't hesitate to contact any of the teachers on our team if you have concerns about your child's progress.

Happy Summer!

Hello Fifth Graders and their Families!

If you are viewing my site, it might be because you have just learned that you are going to be on our 6th grade team at Chittenango Middle School in the fall.  That’s awesome!  Don’t be nervous.  All incoming 6th graders have a lot of worries, but I assure you, within a week, it will all feel like second-nature to you.  You’ll know where your classes are, how to open your locker, and you will have made a few new friends!  For now, keep your eyes open for sales on paper and pencils; we seem to use a lot of those things.  Locker shelves also come in handy.  My room in on the 2nd floor.  When you come up the main stairs, turn right, and go all the way to the end of the hall, but don’t turn the corner.  I have blonde, spiky hair and glasses.  I will be in my room in late August, getting everything ready so feel free to stop in and say hello.  Touring the building a few times really helps you know where to go.

I hope you’re enjoying your summer.  I’m actually teaching summer school, like I usually do, so my official vacation hasn’t started yet. However, we’ve enjoyed our time so far.  We have a new puppy - a 6th month old great dane named Hannah.  She joins our other pets, dogs Connor and Sadie, a cat, Murphy, and a guinea pig, Patty.  We took a short trip to Norfolk, Virginia to visit our oldest son Ryan who is in the Navy.  He is stationed on the USS George H W Bush.  We’ve also really enjoyed our pool this year, especially with it being so hot.  I can’t wait to hear about your summer too!

Until we meet face to face, feel free to browse my gallery of pictures.  The information on the pages is all from last spring, but it might help you to get an idea of what 6th grade might be like.  Check out Mrs. Hagan’s and Mrs. Korosec’s web sites too.  In the meantime, stay healthy, and enjoy your summer.  Please wear a helmet when you ride a bike!

TTFN,

Mrs. Cappello
