Welcome to the wonderful world of Spanish! Spanish 8 is considered to be an advanced one-year course where, upon passing the course and local final exam, you will receive one credit towards your world language sequence (graduation requirement). It is designed to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing that will help you achieve a level of proficiency that will allow you to communicate with Spanish-speaking people around the world. In addition, you will also gain an appreciation of Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures.
Be ready to practice your Spanish language skills both inside and outside the classroom. Written homework will be assigned approximately three times per week, and speaking practice will be expected five to seven times per week.
Grades will be determined in the following manner:
Homework: 10%
Participation: 25%
Quizzes: 30%
Exams and Projects: 35%
Success begins with a positive commitment to learning. You need to be in class on a daily basis, and be prepared with materials and any homework assigned for class everyday. Let’s make this a great year!
