French 1 is an advanced one-year course where students work towards the goal of developing their communication skills. Listening and speaking are primary communicative goals in modern language learning. These skills are used for the purposes of socializing, providing and acquiring information, expressing personal feelings and opinions, and getting others to adopt a course of action.

Students will also gain an understanding of Francophone countries and cultures. 

French 1 grading is as follows:

Homework: 10%

Participation: 25%

Quizzes: 30%

Exams and Projects: 35%
